Old wooden type shows its provenance when printed. When taking the analogue and translating into digital, letterforms are utilised for a new age. By scanning then turning into vector images, the limitations of fixed size and kerning are removed, whilst retaining the humanity in form. Old type is revived and reinvigorated whilst conserving the original.
The design incorporates the initials for the Museum of Typography and the red, black and white, a nod to classic Swiss typography. The totem-like structure embodies the historical narrative of the significance of letterpress within the history of print.
